Who Is Miss Kitty Poppins?
UPDATE - I AM NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS.
That would be me!
The nickname “Miss Kitty Poppins” was coined during one of my many cat sitting assignments in San Francisco. The owner walked joyously through the door (after a long business trip) then called for her babies. Her kitties continued to cuddle with me on the couch without moving a muscle! We both laughed and I exclaimed, "Wow, it's like I'm Kitty Poppins or something."
The nickname stuck. I was officially the "Mary Poppins" of cat nannies.
Originally from North Orange County, California -my younger sister and I grew up in a household full of pets alongside our mother (a.k.a. the Animal Whisperer) and our father (a big softie in recent years!) who believes there should be a limit to the amount of pets in the house. We've had dogs, two pet bunnies, rats, hamsters, fish, parakeets, finches, (check out our family album) even some local wildlife - opossums, snakes, ducks and countless injured birds we've nursed back to health. Then of course there were the (you guessed it)…cats! I absolutely love all animals, but cats have always held a special place in my heart. Since you’re a cat lover too, I know you get where I’m coming from.
Of all the kitties we've had as part of our family, Gwen was truly my girl (and the inspiration behind the Miss Kitty Poppins logo I’ve created). She and I had a very special bond and were inseparable. Every moment of her sixteen years were filled with pampering and love. As she entered her senior years, she developed pancreatitis and we had to say goodbye to her in February of 2016. It was one of the hardest days of my life. Anyone who has lost a pet can relate.
Back in 2009 I found myself pet sitting for family and friends. As word-of-mouth recommendations increased, so did my client base. Everything happened very organically, and as a transplant here in Menlo Park (since 2017) I’ve already met so many wonderful owners and their sweet kitties in much the same way! I’m exceedingly grateful for those personal connections and I truly love what I do.
I look forward to providing both you and your kitty peace of mind while you’re away.
